Here’s pretty much the final product visually. Meet up with a friend who also does professional photography (check out werksautomotion on the bookface and instant grams for more). I’m really pleased with the Cube currently. There are for sure more mods to come, slotted/drilled rotors are next on the list as I’ll be needing a brake job soon anyway. Every part, the lip kit, the graphics, the exhaust etc... was done by myself and my father on the driveway which makes this car that much more satisfying.

When I got the cube about 2 years ago, I didn’t expect it to last. I bought and sold cars like they went out of style. None of them were special, none of them brought me any real joy, they were just cars.

I got the cube for its reliability and fuel economy. I figured this thing would be a cheap run around for a few months, maybe a year. But the weirdest thing happened, I really enjoyed the damn thing on the test drive. It was a nice place to sit and pleasant to drive. A week after buying it, I threw on a set of wheels that had been laying around the house for almost 7 years. And the cube looked fantastic! Then I found out about the OEM aero kit, and that’s when the bond formed.

I’ve spent countless hours with my father lining up vinyls, spray painting body parts and learning how to break little plastic tabs and free rusted bolts. It hasn’t always been the most fun but with every mod completed, I could step back and appreciate the changes.

Kinja'd!!!

This isn’t a car that very many people loved when it was introduced by Nissan, and my build isn’t one that I expect very many people to love either. But I love it and cannot wait to get some more stuff done to it.

I’ve always wanted one of these or a Scion XB

I think it turned out sweet. Shame about the Jersey front plates, though. Can you display it in on the dash? And how about doing the Newark skyline on one side? OK, now I've gone too far. I honestly had reservations about the Tokyo vinyl down the side, but I think it worked out great. Nothing like some honest DIY modding!

My first car was actually a gen 1 xB that I was in the process of ricing. It died in a hit & run while parked outside my house overnight.

As a former cube owner, I’ve always enjoyed seeing your build and vision be realized. I don’t remember, did you lower it at all? It’s hard to tell with the aero kit on it.

Oh, one other thing. I don’t know if you ever did anything to the interior, but if you’re considering seat covers at any point, go with Clazzio. I had never heard of them either until people were talking about them on the cube forums. They really look good. I got the PVC for mine when I had it. I ordered from Bean Garage, but I’m not sure If they carry them anymore, I know you can order direct from the manufacturer though.

Interior is something I’ve been wanting to tackle now that the exterior is done. I just haven’t made up my mind between going ricer-spec with a recaro or just getting the clazzios. The certainly look comfy. Did they improve the ride feel or anything though?

And yea I have lowered it, 2 inch drop on Megan Racing lowered springs. I really wanted to get rid of the absurd wheel arch mainly and the springs did just that. They ride much harder but it’s not undriveable like some static stanced cars seem to be.

Yeah, they were WAY more comfortable than the stock seats. IIRC, they have a bit of memory foam in them. That was the primary reason for me buying them, they improved comfort. They do not transmit any more road feel though. Just more comfortable for the long haul.
